G4 go to Europe

Welcome to the internet home of a group of intrepid travellers hereafter known as the Gang of 4

Our travels started as a result of a drink fuelled statement that it would be cheaper to hold a work meeting in Prague than in Birmingham (where we were at the time).  Because we work in the public sector we never got the chance to prove it as the official line is that it is better to appear to be frugal with public funds than to actually be so (that’s the end of the politics). After a few more drinks we decided that we would go anyway and Prague seemed as good a place as anywhere.

The Prague trip was successful so Tallinn was arranged as second destination in May of 2004

Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria became our third destination in May of 2005 with Odessa planned as our next destination the following year.

Unfortunately spiralling costs dictated a diversion for our 2006 trip from Odessa to Bucharest (a very impressive city but with a bit more careful planning we were able to get to Odessa in June 2007.

As well as our main trips there have been visits to Riga, Split and Valencia involving less than all four members of the group. Details of these trips are also on this site.
